BROOKDALE BEEF RING Brookdale also had a beef ring. The slaughter house was located near the west entrance to town, near the railway track on Dave McNaughton''s land. The slaughter house was equipped with a pump, pit and lime. People were required to bring a clean bag to take their meat home. A professional butcher was engaged to carry out all the operation. Early butchers were, Humeson, Boles and Wark. Ernie McLeod was secretary treasurer for years.
