GEORGE BROWN George James Brown came to Oberon from Sidney Manitoba in 1906. He farmed on the southwest corner of the John Oliver farm from 1906-1912. The family moved into town in 1912, and Mr. Brown bought the general store, which he ran until 1918. He was also Post Master during those years. Mr. and Mrs. Brown had four children. Three daughters, Elva, Mildred and Mabel, and one son, George (Hilliard). The Brown family moved to Winnipeg in the fall of 1918, where Mr. Brown acquired a confectionary store. He passed away in 1949, and Mrs. Brown in 1957. Hilliard passed away in 1980. The three daughters reside in Winnipeg.
