GRAVEL In the area immediately north and west of Brookdale, gravel is located in patches along creek beds and in localized pockets. This is good road gravel and it was used to make an all weather surface on the early roads. Some pockets were even good enough for mixing with cement for making concrete for building purposes. Most road gravel is trucked into the area now. Local existing gravel patches are either not large enough for commercial development, are being protected or have not been discovered as yet.
